Salt decides what goes on your roof.
Tequesta sits on a peninsula. The Loxahatchee River runs down one side and the Atlantic sits on the other, with the Jupiter Inlet at the south end. Salt air reaches your roof from more than one direction, and it eats the metal first. Standard fasteners and flashing can fail near the water in under a decade. The tile or panel above them is still fine.
So we start with the metal. Near the coast we use stainless steel fasteners and factory-painted aluminum flashing. Copper goes on where the house calls for it. The closer the roof sits to open water, the higher the grade. Wind matters too. Design wind speeds along this coast are among the highest in the country. Every roof we file is engineered to the wind-uplift rules in the Florida Building Code. Our crews build the same way on the Jupiter side of the inlet, and north into Hobe Sound.

Tequesta's roofing contractor.
Most of our Tequesta work sits inside a handful of communities. Each one asks something different of a roof. Nearly all of it is houses, and most of those neighborhoods run their own review boards. Where the community has a gate, Turtle Creek and Heritage Oaks included, we sort out where trucks park and how crews get in with the guardhouse before we start.
- Tequesta Country Club
- Homes facing the river take the worst of the salt air. We pick the metal parts to match
- Turtle Creek
- A gated golf community with its own rules. The review board sees the plan first. Then we book the crew
- Jupiter Hills Village
- Estates on some of the highest ground here. Higher ground means more wind, so we tighten the fastening pattern
- Riverbend
- On the Loxahatchee River. Damp air off the water never lets up. It works on the metal and the layer under the surface
- Tequesta Pines
- Family streets in the middle of the Village. Most jobs here are shingle or metal
- Heritage Oaks
- Gated homes with an HOA that checks materials. The approval paperwork comes with your estimate
Permits go through the Village of Tequesta Building Department.
Tequesta is a village, not a city. People look up the city building department, but the real office is the Village of Tequesta Building Department. It reviews every roofing permit inside 33469. Your job starts with that filing, engineering plans included, before anything comes off the roof.
We have pulled Tequesta permits long enough to know the calendar. We run the file from application to closeout. The closed permit goes in your records. An open one turns up again when the house changes hands.

Roof repair in Tequesta.
Salt damage starts small, usually at the edges. You see rusted fastener heads and pitted flashing, or a tile knocked out of line by a storm. When the damage stays in one spot and the layer underneath is still sound, a repair is the right call. We put that in writing after we walk the roof. When corrosion has moved into the main area of the roof, a patch holds for a season, and we say that too.
That call comes out of an inspection. We walk the roof and fly a heat-sensing drone over it. Water trapped in the wood and insulation shows up as heat long before it reaches a ceiling. On the close-up pass we grade how far the rust has gone. What an inspection covers is laid out under roof inspections.
When a storm opens a roof, we dry it in first and handle paperwork after. That work runs through our emergency roofing crews. Building owners with flat or low-slope roofs can go straight to commercial roof repairs.

The certification behind your roof.
We are GAF Master Elite on the shingle side of the work. GAF gives that rating to fewer than 2% of all roofing contractors and checks it again every year. It lets us register the Golden Pledge. On a single-family detached home, that means Lifetime coverage on both materials and workmanship, for as long as the original owner keeps the house. For the first 50 years, the material coverage is not cut back by age. Every other owner and building type runs on GAF's separate commercial and multifamily document, which caps the term at 40 years.
Metal and commercial roofs carry their own separate GAF certifications. Tile has no GAF program, so we go by how long it lasts. The breakdown by roof type is on the GAF certification page, and the replacement process is laid out under roof replacement.
Tequesta roofing questions.
- Why is a Tequesta roof different from the rest of Palm Beach County?
Water. The Village sits on a peninsula between the Loxahatchee River and the Atlantic, with the Jupiter Inlet at the south end. Salt air reaches your roof from more than one side. It gets stronger the closer you are to the water.
The tile or shingle on top usually handles that fine. The metal under it is what gives out. Standard fasteners and flashing can fail on the waterfront in under a decade. So in Tequesta we pick the metal first and the brand second.
- Does the Village of Tequesta Building Department have to approve a new roof?
Yes. The Village issues its own roofing permits. Engineering plans go in up front. A wind-lift inspection closes it out at the end.
We write the plans, pull the permit, meet the inspectors, and close the file. You get the record when it clears.
- What does a roof replacement cost in Tequesta?
Size and material set most of it. The rest is how much salt-rated metal the house needs. Waterfront hardware adds real work, so a house on the inlet prices out differently than the same house inland.
County-wide numbers are on our cost page. Every quote we write is itemized, so you can see what each line adds. Financing runs through outside lenders, and you see the terms before you commit.
- Do you work in Tequesta's gated communities?
Yes. Tequesta Country Club, Turtle Creek, Jupiter Hills Village, Riverbend, Tequesta Pines, and Heritage Oaks are all regular stops.
If your community runs a review board, we send the paperwork in first. The approval never holds up the job.
